MESS FORUMS – PERFORMANCES AS MOTIVES FOR THEATER DEBATE
As part of the 58th International Theater Festival MESS there is a special segment MESS FORUMS – a space for dialogue with the audience motivated by performances from this year’s programme. Art House Kriterion will host some of the most prominent names in BiH and the region from the area of theater, philosophy, anthropology, as well as festival guests whose belonging plays the audience will be able to see as part of the official programme.
Motivated by the play «Open for Everything», the first forum titled «Who creates out prejudice in the 21st century?»will be moderated by Festival director Nihad Kreševljaković on Sunday, September 30th from 3 PM, and his guests will beSaša Milosavljević, theater critic and selector of this year’s BiH selection, Bojan Jablanec, author and director of play «The Ninth», as well as Tomasz Kirenczuk, a member of this year’s festival jury, and also a dramatist, theater critic and artistic curator.
Before the audience has the chance to see the play «Palmyra», on Tuesday, October 2nd at 3 PM at the forum «Policy of destruction against civilization», also moderated by Nihad Kreševljaković, the authors and protagonists of the play Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas, as well as Marion Kraske, the director of Heinrich Boell Foundation in Sarajevo will be at discussion.
“This year MESS forums are introduced as a novelty and the plays will be motives for engaging in discussions. Through forums we wish to show that MESS is not only a theater festival, but also a social event and we invite the general public to join us”, noted by programme manager of International Theater Festival MESS, Dino Mustafić, who will be moderating the next two forums.
After the first two performances of the play «The Fever», a third forum «Arts in the service of awareness of individual and collective responsibility»is scheduled on Friday, October 5th at 3 PM. The guests will be authors and directors of play «The Fever»Abigail Browde and MichaelSilverstone, renowned BiH professor fromthe Faculty of Philosophy Sulejman Bosto, as well as director Ivan Plazibat.
Director of play «Cezary Goes to War», which is also the topic for the fourth forum, CezaryTomaszewski, author Jeton Neziraj, professor Nerzuk Ćurak as well as dramatist Stela Mišković will talk aboutArts in the deconstruction of Balkan myths, nationalism and patriotism. The fourth forum is scheduled on the last day of the Festival, on Saturday, October 6th at 3PM.
