Albert Camus’ „Caligula“ depicts a mad Roman emperor’s descent into chaos and self-destruction after a personal loss. Driven by grief, he seeks absolute power and challenges logic, fate, and world order. Amidst contemporary upheavals like the war in Ukraine, modern audiences easily see parallels with the world they live in today.
