The Toth Family is a grotesque with undertones of satire. It was written by István Örkény, one of the most renowned Hungarian authors of the 20th Century, who based the play on his 1966 novella titled Welcoming the Major. Inspired by the fate of Hungarian soldiers in 1943, the play sheds light on the fear and compromise of ordinary people in times of crisis. Staged at the Sarajevo War Theater, it carries the creative directorial signature of András Urbán, one of the most prominent contemporary theater makers in the region and beyond.

„In this performance… the magic comes from a theater box which is tightly sealed in terms of its stage design and dramaturgy but  which is given to the actors for safekeeping” – Mirza Skenderagić
