A TEN-MINUTE PLAYS: CHAT, DEAD-SERIOUS, PUSHBACK

CHAT

To meet the deadline for a ten-minute play, a young and naive writer seeks help from a chatbot.

About author Adna Dautović was born in Travnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2003. She enrolled in the Dramaturgy Department at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo in 2022 and was named the best student of the Department in 2023. She has participated in workshops at the Mladinsko Showcase of the Slovene Youth Theatre in Ljubljana, as well as in the Atelier Program for Playwrights at the first Sarajevo Theater Showcase. This year, she was appointed selector of the international high school theatre festival Juventafest.

DEAD-SERIOUS

Having woken up hungover, two best friends face a test of their friendship. With their memories incomplete, they are trying to piece together what happened the night before. The line between reality and illusion becomes increasingly blurred.

About author Ilma Smajlović is 25 years old and was born in Sarajevo. She completed her primary and secondary education in Sarajevo. Before enrolling at the Academy of Performing Arts, she studied Art History and English Language and Literature. She is currently a fourth-year student of Dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo.

PUSHBACK

PUSHBACK is a ten-minute play about two migrant brothers who, hiding on the “green border” between two countries, try to evade tracking dogs and the batons of the border police. Karim and Abdel struggle with fear, exhaustion, and memories of the past, until the moment they are forced into a desperate dive into the river to escape the violence.

About author Berina Mušanović was born in Oberhausen, Germany in 1995. After completing the first cycle of her double-major studies in German Studies and Art History at the University of Freiburg, she began a B.A. program at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, in the Department of Dramaturgy. As an online editor and freelance writer, Mušanović writes for international media as well as for theatre and film.
